Ultrawide monitors offer a larger canvas for your digital work and play, making it easier for you to reference multiple windows side by side or become immersed in a video game. These are big monitors that dominate desks and might seem unwieldy at first, but their extra screen space can be worth the investment.

The Dell UltraSharp U3425WE is our top pick because it’s a large, sharp monitor with a bevy of features that help you connect your devices, such as USB-C power delivery and a USB hub. And now that it’s been available for more than a year, its price has dropped to an even more competitive level.

But if you want the absolute best ultrawide monitor we’ve tested, buy the Dell Alienware AW3926QW. Its massive 39-inch, 5K OLED display is simply gorgeous, and its 165 Hz refresh rate makes motion look smooth whether you’re gaming or slinging spreadsheets.

If you’re seeking a basic ultrawide monitor that costs less, we recommend the Asus ProArt PA34VCNV. If you’re looking for an ultrawide monitor specifically for gaming, the Asus ROG Strix XG34WCDMS doesn’t require as much computing power as our upgrade pick and uses the same stellar display technology.
