Scholarships Are A Great Way To Pay For College

For students and families figuring out how to pay for college, scholarships are one of the most effective tools to lower borrowing costs. Unlike loans, scholarships don’t need to be repaid. They can help cover the gap between financial aid and actual college costs, including tuition, housing, and materials.

Many scholarships, ask for essays, reference letters, or resumes. That process can be time-consuming. Ascent’s no-essay format removes those barriers, making the entry process more accessible, especially for students juggling jobs, schoolwork, and financial stress.

And while only one person wins the $10,000 scholarship, Ascent offers multiple other scholarship opportunities throughout the year.

These include monthly and seasonal non-essay opportunities that are free to enter. Some are geared toward students pursuing degrees, while others are open to parents, high schoolers, or people in technical training programs.

More Than A Giveaway

Beyond the scholarship, Ascent’s goal is to promote financial wellness and education – especially as it relates to paying for college.

The application form includes questions about confidence in managing personal finances, biggest college funding concerns, and preferred sources of support – so that they can use these responses to tailor better products to students in the future

While applying for scholarships won’t solve every financial challenge related to college, free money like this can take the edge off.

For many students, it’s worth spending a few minutes completing an entry. And, for families looking ahead to the fall semester – the chance of winning $10,000 can be a helpful motivator to investigate similar opportunities.
